The man who wants your land redistributed needs his father for a roof.

His chapter has called for land to be redistributed from landowners to the landless. He owns no land. He rents none either. He lives in a Bedford-Stuyvesant row house his parents bought in 2019 through a company called Chucuito LLC, for just under a million dollars. It is worth about a million and a half now, after they renovated it. His father, an engineer who built a firm in South Florida, was asked by the New York Post whether his son lives there. "My son and my other son both live there," he said. Before that house, the same family company paid the rent on his Lower East Side apartment. Twenty-six hundred a month. His father confirmed that too.

HE IS NOT A FRINGE FIGURE. HE IS A WINNING ONE.

It would be easy to file this under harmless crank and move on. That would be a mistake.

Gordillo is described by organized labor in Canada, who booked him to teach their local presidents how it is done, as a key campaign architect behind Zohran Mamdani's mayoral victory in New York City.

That is the point. This faction is not losing arguments in a basement. It elected a mayor of the largest city in America, and its people are now flown across borders to explain the method to other unions.

Two days after the Democratic nominee for governor of Alabama told a national audience that the socialist surge was largely a media invention, Democratic primary voters in Florida nominated a member of the Democratic Socialists of America for the United States Senate.

The faction is not coming. It is here, and it is winning nominations.

AND IT IS NOT A BELIEF. IT IS A PAYROLL.

Here is the part that matters more than any row house.

Gordillo drew no salary from the chapter in 2025. Then the New York City DSA voted to pay its co-chairs ninety-five thousand dollars a year, with benefits.

The job carries conditions. The co-chairs are expected to raise fifteen percent of their own salary. And they are expected to promote the candidates the chapter endorses.

Read that again slowly. A political faction inside the Democratic Party now pays professional staff a six-figure wage, on the explicit condition that they go out and elect the people that faction has chosen.

That is not a debating society. That is an apparatus with a payroll, a fundraising quota and an endorsement list. It is how Mamdani happened. It is how Florida happened. And it does not stop at a state line, because it does not need to — it operates inside the primary of a national party.

THIS IS WHY IT REACHES ALABAMA

Shomari Figures does not carry a DSA card. This page has never said he does.

But he belongs to the party this faction is taking over, and we already pulled the receipts on what that membership means in practice.

Roll Call 200 through Roll Call 283. Every recorded vote he cast between June 3 and July 23 — eighty-four of them, downloaded from the House Clerk.

He broke with his caucus twice.

Eighty-two times out of eighty-four, Shomari Figures voted with the caucus. That is the caucus the Democratic Socialists of America are buying, one nomination and one ninety-five-thousand-dollar organizer at a time.

Nobody has to accuse him of being a socialist. The question on a ballot was never what a man calls himself. It is whose majority he builds, and which direction that majority is being pulled.

THE ARGUMENT THEY CANNOT MAKE

The man who wants your land redistributed cannot keep a roof over his own head without his father.

He told a national television audience in July that nobody should have a constitutional right to double-digit returns on their investment. He said it from a house he did not buy, on land he does not own, in a neighborhood his family's money helped price.

They are not asking to share the burden. They have never carried it. They are asking to decide who does.

On November 3, District 2 chooses which caucus its congressman votes with eighty-two times out of eighty-four.
