FIGURES ASKS FOR A STAGE
On Thursday, October 8, Shomari Figures called for debates with Rhett Marques and said he had accepted invitations from AL.com, the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce and the Christian Coalition of Alabama.
Marques said he will not debate. In a written statement to Alabama Political Reporter, he said he will not give a platform to someone who wants to hand control of Congress to "anti-American socialists like AOC."
Figures does not need a stage to tell Second District voters where he stands. He has already told them, on the House floor.
President Trump rallied in Mobile for Rhett Marques against this same congressman.
THE VOTES HE WOULD BE DEFENDING
The One Big Beautiful Bill Act. Roll Call 190, July 3, 2025: H.R. 1, final passage. Passed 218 to 214. Shomari Figures voted no, and called the bill "nothing more than a handout for the rich."
Girls' sports. Roll Call 12, January 14, 2025: H.R. 28, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act. Passed 218 to 206. Shomari Figures voted no.
Medicaid and minors. Roll Call 362, December 18, 2025: H.R. 498, the Do No Harm in Medicaid Act, which bars federal Medicaid funds from paying for gender transition procedures for anyone under 18. Passed 215 to 201. Shomari Figures voted no.
Alabama's five Republicans, Robert Aderholt, Barry Moore, Gary Palmer, Mike Rogers and Dale Strong, voted yes on all three.
PELOSI'S MONEY
Nancy Pelosi for Congress gave Figures $4,000 in 2024 and another $2,000 on June 17, 2026.
PAC to the Future, Pelosi's leadership PAC, gave him $10,000 in 2024 and another $5,000 on June 17, 2026.
That is $21,000 from Nancy Pelosi's own committees to the man asking Alabama for two more years.

Wall of Shame — Today: Maynard Nexsen
Today on the Wall of Shame: the Maynard Nexsen PAC (Birmingham) has put $5,000 into Rep. Shomari Figures' campaign account. The same firm was also writing checks to the Republican primary opponent — bipartisan hedging from the firm representing Regions Bank in the Mabel Amos case. The Wall of Shame exists for one reason — so that total stops growing. https://take2back.com/wall-of-shame.html
