FIGURES MOVED HIS VOTE INTO THE DISTRICT AFTER THE PRIMARY
Yellowhammer News reported that Alabama Secretary of State records show Shomari Figures registered to vote on October 6, 2026, at an address in east Montgomery rather than at his home in Mobile.
Yellowhammer News reported that the Montgomery property sold for $272,000 on August 27, 2026, three months after Democrat qualifying for the race was certified and 16 days after the special primary election was held for the seat.
Yellowhammer News reported that Figures' annual financial disclosure, filed in August 2026, lists a mortgage on his Mobile home as a liability worth between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000.
HIS OWN WORDS, TURNED ON HIM
In 2024, as reported by Alabama Media Group and recounted by Yellowhammer News, Figures said of candidates who move into a district only to seek its seat: "To refuse to move into the district to run for this seat is a slap in the face of voters, and the elected officials running for this seat who live outside of the district clearly value the people and communities they represent now much more than they value the people and communities of District 2."
Figures also said in 2024, as recounted by Yellowhammer News: "Your focus should be the district in which you reside, not the district you visit. Public service is a commitment. The decision to move to the district and connect with your communities is a commitment. I've made that commitment, and someone who cannot commit to being a D2 resident can't be expected to be committed to much else."
Yellowhammer News reported that Figures previously criticized a 2024 Democratic primary opponent, Anthony Daniels, for not being able to vote for himself because he refused to live in the district.
HIS OWN WIFE WON'T BE VOTING FOR HIM
Yellowhammer News reported that Figures' wife remains registered to vote at their Mobile home as of October 9, 2026.
Yellowhammer News reported that records show Mrs. Figures voted by in-person absentee ballot in Mobile on October 8, 2026, meaning she voted in the First Congressional District for the general election and will not be voting for her husband in November.
Yellowhammer News reported that the Figures campaign did not respond to a request for comment before publication.

NINETEEN DAYS
Rhett Marques is the Republican nominee in Alabama's Second Congressional District. Shomari Figures is the incumbent.
Figures told Alabama voters in 2024 that a candidate who won't live in the district can't be trusted to represent it. He has now moved his own voter registration out of Mobile and into Montgomery, and his wife remains registered, and voted, in Mobile, in a different district than the one he's asking to represent.
We want this seat back. Show up.
